So,
what are these Fires of which we speak?
The
Fires of Venus are an experiment based upon various other traditions
of fire-working including the Alchemical Fire Circles done at
Fires Rising and other events around the country. They are an
attempt to combine the magic of the fire with the work on Sacred
Sexuality we've done at our Beltane event for the last several
years.
The
physical Fire Circle, located in a different place from the traditional
fire circles at Beltane and Free Spirit Gathering, is a magical
container which we will alter for each night's work during the
day. Attendees are invited to help in the process of preparing
the space each afternoon, and of course they are welcome to partake
of the circle each night.
When
we light the Fires each night, there will be a beginning ceremony.
Though it is not required that you be at this ceremony, it is
recommended that you do so since this will set the tone for the
rest of the night's work.
Each
night has its own flavor and its own lead facilitator(s). Thursday
night is our "Vanilla" night, which we look at as a kind of foreplay
for the rest of the weekend. Sabrina Mari and Kate will be facilitating
Thursday night's fire. On Friday, we move to the darker side
of our event, with a fire flavored with a more BDSM feel and
facilitated by Whittney. To culminate our work,
Saturday night's Fire will be facilitated by Sacred Mark Sanctuary
and will embrace people of all flavors and sexual bents in a
ritual which will run from 11 pm till dawn.
All
of this is a grand experiment, and one which we hope will inform
many more Fires of Venus in the years to come. We hope you will
lend your energy to this endeavor by drumming, dancing, watching,
chanting, playing, loving, or whatever you feel moved to do.
Because
this is a challenging environment for many of us, there will
be specific rules we will be requiring all attendees to read
and sign an agreement to when they arrive onsite. These rules
exist to help us create a safe space in which to play and work
at a level of intensity perhaps previously unheard-of at one
of our events.
