CANCELED FOR 2008!
This track is for you if you feel drawn to the lwa but don't know
where to
start; if you've begun following the path but want to take another
step; or
even if you're simply sincerely interested in Vodou. However, you'll
probably gain more from your experience if you've had a basic introduction
to the tradition -- for example, a book such as Karen McCarthy
Brown's
_Mama Lola_, Milo Rigaud's _Secrets of Voodoo_ or Kenaz's own _Haitian
Vodou Handbook_.
As with all of our tracks, this one involves intensive work which
can be
challenging. You can expect readings to determine which spirits
walk with you,
consultations about dreams, power "baths", illuminations,
and altar
work. You'll take away ideas for how to incorporate this work into
your
life at home.
Things you should know before registering:
- You will need to
bring some items with you, including white sheets, white
towels, white sleepwear and one set of white clothing. Please remember that
the
average nighttime temperature at Ramblewood in October is 45 degrees, and the
cabins are unheated.
- The track will involve times when you will be in seclusion (mostly
just one
day) and the presenters will ask you to refrain from certain behaviors
during
the track, such as arguing, nudity and drinking alcohol.
- Some of the work will involve herbal stuff and essential oils,
so if you have
a lot of sensitivities, this may not be the track for you.
- You must arrive by dinnertime on Friday evening to participate
in this track.
If any of this is a problem, you might want to choose a different
track.
